my 95 325i automatic has the little manual switch, and i was wonderin if this is normal...everything works fine, except when i go to switch from 3rd gear into 4th gear (Drive), it doesnt change gears...is that normal? or is somethin wrong
It's normal no top gear in M mode. If you'd like to know more thoughts read the topic - Manual or Automatic mode...ever use it - that carcus started a day or so ago.
Not sure if the '95 came with traction control but when the M is selected, the tranny will keep the car in the gear it was in....eg. if driving on the freeway and the car's tranny comp had selected 5 lets say, then it will stay in 5th even if u slow down to a stop....i think one uses it in slippery conditions to prevent excess wheel spin
'94 325i auto downshifts if you are set in drive from drive to 3 when you hit the button from A - Economy to M - Manual program. Then the car stays in that gear until you shift it manually to a lower gear or push the A button again and the auto takes over.
