My convertible top will not open. I noticed that the body panel which completes the closure of the top is not flush to the car. Also, the trunk lid will not unlock at the trunk. The trunk will unlock for 1/2 second when you unlock the doors, but locks back quickly. Can anyone help me.

The trunk will not unlock unless the panel that covers the top when folded is not fully closed. This is a safety feature of Convertibles so that you can't accidentally open the trunk when the panel is not closed. You can have somebody press the left side (passenger side) of the panel close to the rear passenger area and you will here a clicking sound which means the sensor is activated and you can unlock the trunk. I had accidentally released the emergency latch under the rear seat of my 325ic and released the motors of both the top and the body panel covering. And all i did was pushed both motors back to its place then did a reset ( While the key is on the OFF position press the button as if you are lowering the top then while pressing button turn the key to ON, wait till you here the body panel move to close position and you're set.)

325ic Convert Thanks for your info. It was helpful. Were you able to re-engage the motors with that last little trick you mentioned, or did you have to take it to the dealer?
