The only time I ever found an amp in an e30, is was buried under the drivers side dashboard.
It's easy enough to bypass... just run new wires.... it's not like any speakers are in the doors. The rear speakers might be a bit of a PITA.
On a sedan they are often in the boot hanging from the rear parcel tray or behind the trim panels on either side of the boot. Not sure on a cabby with all that roof mechanism.
