Post says it all I hope.
I think German engineering , quality, timeless styling, and because of the Ad campaign (which is true) "The Ultimate Driving Machine" Performance/handling.
I may be off here, but I doubt it.
What do you guys:
A. Think BMW means? ( no "break my wallet" please)
B. Think the "general public" thinks?

Keep answers under 100 words, use #2 pencil only, You have 4 Minutes.
Now.. Begin!

Just curious!

heh, some people think "there goes another a55hole bmw driver." i saw a guy in his massive 745iL park it up on the sidewalk at a local supermarket while he ran into the store for a couple of things...and i thought, here's a guy who gives us good and curteous drivers a bad name.

bmw means barvarian motors works doesn't it?

i think the general public thinks bmw's are nice cars and many think they are unaffordable, which they aren't if you buy used and are smart about it.

Here in the Seattle area BMW's are a dime a dozen. Your more likely to stand out in a Hyundi than a BMW. I think most people here don't think too much about it. When I lived in Idaho most people I knew there thought they were great cars, but expensive to purshcase and maintain.

Agreed, I am impressed when I see an M5 (any year) a Z8 or an M1, those you do not see often.

people give me lots of shit - they don't know that I bought the car myself. They think mommy and daddy bought it. Then they dont understand that bmws are great performance cars - they just think its for show. And then they realize i have no cupholders, manual seats, 5spd short shift, exhaust, pure black leather inside - no chrome/aluminum and it dawns on them that this car isn't that comfortable with the lowered suspension either. LOL

Lots of them out here......even in Mississippi. I think most people just look at them as a foreign car. Granted, I have a used one, 97 328 vert. Most people just like it because it a convert and think I paid a ton for it. You can actually pick them up cheap...at least used 3 series. Few people think when they see my car, yea...cost alot...."Not true to buy used"....BMW are fast....."Yep...if it was a M3 or M5".....I just tell them the truth. 190HP, not that fast, but fun to drive and I got it used.....they can get one also.[thumb]

Thing is that the body style is timeless.....changes little....except for the new 3 series coming out. Just a nice ride.[thumb]

I am in the military and am by no means pompus either. Been stationed in Europe for 3 years.....BMW and Mercedes are like Ford and Chevy to them. They like the Corvette, big SUV and other stuff that is hard for them to get over there.[^]

Most people stare but that's because I'm ugly and I drive with the top down if the sun is out and it's above 48 degrees. Hey it's a summer car and that's sometimes as good as summer gets in the morning in the northland.

hate it or love it

I think I usually piss people off when I drive my bimmer. At work I roll up in a suit and people think, what the hell, as they roll up in their minivans with soccer balls on the back. The best though is when I'm not dressed to go out at night or wearing a suit and tie for work, then I have my hair spiked, wear some cargos, a wife beater and some cool shades. When people see a 25 year old guy like that in a Dakkar Yellow M3 with a DTM spoiler, xenons and 14% light penetration tinted windows, they don't know if they want to hit you or massage your scrotum.

Either way, I absolutely love it. I'll take the attention in whatever form it comes. My favorite is when I get accused of being spoiled by my parents. I say your right, I am spoiled, I spoil myself all the time. I work my ass off to satisfy all of my many material wants.

Anyway Beamers rock and those who have a problem with it can tongue my balloon knot.

I love [driving] up the main entrance of the Bellagio and telling my valet attendant...

"leave it up front..."

[cheers]
Can do that with a Pacer, Gremlin....or Pinto......you just do not want to go back to it after.[:p]

Hey, all in good fun....would love to pull up to the Bellagio in a Lambo.[thumb]

I know that when I've told people at school that I drive a BMW 325, they kinda take a double take and are like "Wow!" I think that's pretty much been the universal response. Nevermind the fact that it has 230,000 miles on it and I only paid $1,500 for it. [;)] What they don't know won't hurt them! I'm proud of it though, since it's in pretty good shape, it's got cold A/C, power windows, cruise, etc, and I paid for it 100% with money I earned.

my friends think that i'm super rich and that my car cost a lot more than it did. they can't get over the fact that it's a bmw. i keep telling them that i got the car cheap and it's just a transitional car until i can get a 95 m3...they don't understand how i can put steelies on it. ;)

I love my car, but when I meet new people I always hope they don't bring up the whole "what kind of car you drive?" question. I tell them I have a BMW and then they get this impression that I'm some rich kid who has it all. Nevermind the fact that other people are driving Escalades with spinner rims and a sound system that probably cost 20x what I got ym car for. People just don't realize. They also comment on how rough a ride it is. I love the tight suspension. You feel the road and become almost one with the road (yes, I realize that sounds cheesey, but it's true, and you know it).

I also think I've decided I'm gonna try and work a couple jobs. Use one for living off of and one for saving up for a bimmer. People just don't understand BMW's. I do, and love them for it.
