I'd like to add a portable minidisc player and or MP3 player to my BMW radio and see Peripheral and Blitzsafe make devices that allow you to hook into an existing changer to add an aux input that can be controlled by my steering wheel (2000 323ci).

some of Peripherals adapters..

blitzsafe's adapter

I just want to have an aux input which I'll string up to the front of the car from the trunk on RCA's so I can plug in any device I want for audio.

Now looking at some of the peripheral devices the BMWPILX / BMWALPX both say a changer is NOT required for the aux input to operate.

Can anyone confirm this or tell me what the best device might be for me to get. I do not have nor do I want a CD changer, but I do want to have an aux input device so I can plug in devices such as a minidisc player/ mp3 player/ computer...ect whatever.

Also anyone recommend the best place to order the device from?

I've called around all the local audio stores here and specialty shops and noone carries the above devices.

thanks..

I've been told by one audio store online that the BMWALPX and BMWPILX have been discontinued and replaced currently with the BMWPILA version 6? Is this true?

If so, will the BMWPILA version 6.0 allow me to use the aux inputs WITHOUT a cd changer?

So far when I've looked online I've only seen that the BMWALPX and BMWPILX don't need a cd changer, yet the original BMWPILA does in fact need a changer to work?!?

I don't see anything online about a *version 6* BMWPILA that replaced the ..PILX ..ALPX....

I'm a bit confused on this one and hope you guys can clear this up.

anyone have a BMWPILA version 6 working WITHOUT the cd changer?
