My new 325i's front and rear bumper is plastic. If you just happen to get the lightest bump to them from another car with a outpressed license plate or screw there will be a dent. I have a screw dent (nasty) in it, a scratch dent, and 2 light impresses from cars just lightly touching it. It seems to me as if I could could dent the bumper with my knuckle.. What the heck was Bmw thinking making such a cheap bumper cover.... besides the black lining around the bumper is higher than all the other cars they drive around here, 90% of the bumps end up in the low sensitive cheap area below the black line....
On the other hand, would anyone know if its replacement factor that goes with this, I mean how much would this cost to replace???? Even though its trash plastic its still Bmw which means $$$$$$$

I think the chassis itself is the portion in which structure and durability is stressed.
I think it's cuz the body shop also handles the Lexus and Volvo dealers as well (they're all right next to each other). The estimate had a Lexus logo on teh header. I shudder to think what a door ding would cost on the BMW.
