interior light problem

I have a 2000 323ci; when I leave the car unlocked, the interior lights remain on--if i don't lock the car. This seems strange to me (and caused the battery to die yesterday). I can turn off all the interior lights by pressing/holding the main interior light button for 3 seconds, but that seems drastic. Also, when I got the car jumped, the digital odometer read 5k miles less! Any experience with this? Suggestions? Thanks.

nope but the light should go out, no matter if locked or unlocked. btw, why did you leave the car open? just for protection i would lock it.

oh and the 5k miles is a nice feature

hey, thanks for the reply. i figured as much--anything else makes no sense. but no, i don't normally keep it unlocked, i just spaced the other night. and yeah, i'm not complaining about the 5k mile thing--it's one of the "features" that's apparently not advertised...!
