How do you guys clean......

How do you guys clean the door area at the bottom near the door speakers that get scuffed up by shoes getting in and out of the vehicle?

I have some light marks on there from my sneakers that I tried removing with Armor All Cleaning Wipes but to no avail. The scuffs are not just surface dirt as they would have come up with the wipes.

I am afraid to use a scrubber of any kind for fear of scuffing it up even worse.

It is really minor, but you all know how anal we can be about our cars........

I get some plastic cleaner on it and let it sit for a while... than I just scrape it off.

Not too sure if this is propper... but it works.

Try using a 50/50 mixture of water and Simple Green.

Are these pieces plastic? I can't remember if they're covered with leather or vinyl or merely plastic.

If plastic or vinyl, I would start with membim's suggestion of a 50/50 Simple Green and water mix. If that doesn't work, then Formula 409. Either of the above should be followed by a plastic polish like Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Clear Plastic Detailer, (this stuff amazes me sometimes).

Leather would require a completely different solution.

Try a little Silicon spray on a piece of cloth. You should not have to rub to hard. Do not spray silicon directly on the plastic surface, it may dull the finish.

50/50 water/simple green or 100% simple green if its bad ...

if one of those doesnt get it off ... its there for life

Thanks for all the input. I was kinda leary about using hyrocarbon-based solvents, but it sounds like that is what I will try.
