gas leak?

Hi:

Have bad gas leak -worse when just filled, but still leaks after 1/2 empty

see two puddles about 9" wide (and several smaller) on drivers side between rear wheel and door (2door '85 325e)

already replaced hose from filler tube to tank and absorber(damper) near fuel pump -my mechanic was sure that these were the problem --but no help

Any suggestions my save my bimmers life (and maybe mine)

Well my first quess was the filler tube (as thats common), but since you already replaced it...

Have you taken a close look at the tank itself? Thier is a cover that covers most of it that can be removed fairly easy. If it's not either of those tubes than I'm gonna put $$ on the fact it's the tank itself.
