I was on another forum at www.BMW-forums.com and came across this. At www.Pelicanparts.com they have a tech article "Pelican Technical Article Diagnostic Reader". If you have an OBD1 car you can follow the steps to read any fault codes. It also gives you the codes and what they represent. One of the members states that there is an error in the instructions and says "Where it says press the Gas 5 times in 5 seconds you have to actually press the gas 5 times as fast as you can. When you turn the key to the on position all the dash lights will come on and several will go out in 2 seconds. You have to hit the gas 5 times before the rest of the lights go out. It tells you how to clear your computer also. Anyway I thought this might help some of you out or at least something to try with your car. I can't believe all the things these cars do. I just keep finding more each day. No wonder it is dubbed the "Ultimate Driving Machine".

The "press the gas" thing isn't needed (at least in my car it wasn't.) This is a very well known thing - but i'm glad you found it!

They are great cars.
